Job Description : Position Details Advertising/Posting Title Water Quality Research Specialist

Posting Summary Conduct integrated research and related comprehensive educational programs in the areas of crop and soil management for University of Vermont Extension. Support practical agronomic research for grain-based food and beverage products. Utilize knowledge of grain agronomics, production, lab quality analysis, end-use parameters, and market opportunities on a regional scale. Plan, implement, and evaluate research and education programs provided to the local farming community in the area of crop, soil and nutrient management. Report to the UVM Extension Agronomic Specialist.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor’s degree in a related or specialized field and three years’ related work experience. Experience in applied field-based environmental and/or agricultural research including a basic understanding of experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, and management and operation of scientific field instrumentation. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires effective interpersonal and communication skills required to work with researchers, farmers, and the general public. Excellent writing skills and proficiency in the use of computers and other electronic technologies required.
Desirable Qualifications Experience coordinating with government agencies, business, researchers, and farmer organizations preferred. Knowledge of environmental issues and agricultural water quality regulations.
Anticipated Pay Range $23 to $30/hour
Other Information Non-standard work hours may be necessary in order to respond in a timely manner to some hydrologic events. This position is expected to work out of the St. Albans Extension Office.
Special Conditions Position located in different city, Bargaining unit position, Travel to and from worksites required, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, Contingent on continued funding, Background Check required for this position
