JOB DUTIES:

The Research Analyst collects, analyzes, and interprets data to assist the leadership team in making informed decisions. This role involves conducting market research, analyzing data from a variety of internal and external systems, working with internal and external stakeholders, identifying trends, and preparing reports and visualizations contributing to the department’s strategic plan and operational efficiency efforts. One of the specific goals of this position is to assist the updating and publishing of annual prevailing wage rates for building construction services, heavy construction services, highway construction services and non-construction services.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:

Knowledge of (or ability to learn in a reasonable amount of time):

  • Theories, principles, practices, and procedures of economics, statistical analysis, and data validation.
  • Theories, principles, practices, and procedures programs supporting complex data management systems.
  • Practical application of various technologies used for research and reporting.

Skill in:

  • Collecting, accumulating, analyzing, projecting, reducing, and presenting data.
  • Survey design and implementation.
  • Teamwork and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Ability to:

  • Independently manage work products and set personal direction.
  • Conceptualize a research idea and follow through to implementation.
  • Lead and participate in team meetings.
  • Present complex information orally and in writing to a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and analyze a wide variety of data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Quickly learn new and complex ideas under varying circumstances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including:

  • Relevant bachelors degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or other research-intensive fields
  • Minimum of one year of progressively responsible and relevant experience in economic, statistical, or related analysis.
  • Must be able to demonstrate your management skills, knowledge of project management, continuous improvement methodologies and techniques, and public relations experience.

OR

  • Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.

Preference:
Preferred knowledge in the characteristics of occupations, labor force, occupational safety, and workers compensation. Experience and expertise using SAS, R, Tableau, SQL, and Microsoft Suite with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
