The Montana Department of Revenue administers almost 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Directors Office Division provides support for the Director and department employees relating to tax policy, legal, human resources, training, enterprise planning, communications and taxpayer assistance, dispute resolution, call center, accounting and budgeting, contracts, facilities and purchasing, and security.

DUTIES

Job Overview:

This position resides in the Directors Office Division of Department of Revenue. Duties include purchasing department equipment and supplies receiving, reviewing, and processing purchase requests managing purchasing contracts tracking department assets and accounting transactions coordinating state procurement cards for the department and providing information on purchasing rules, policies, and procedures. The position does not supervise other staff.


Knowledge of:

  • Montana procurement and purchasing statutes
  • Department purchasing and procurement policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Contract negotiations
  • Accounting methods and techniques
  • Asset management and control protocols and system
  • Effective information dissemination techniques
  • OSHA Standards and the Montana Safety Culture Act.
  • Potential exposures to hazardous work environments. Must be able to prepare and adjust accordingly to ensure actives are completed in a safe manner.
  • Security and disaster preparedness laws.
  • Electronic security systems and software. Must be able to apply knowledge, experience and training to solve specific security or disaster problems.
  • Risk management and loss control as it relates to a comprehensive employee safety program.
  • Safety laws and regulations and the application of those laws.
  • ADA, job safety analysis, Return to Work programs and OSHA.
  • Local law enforcement processes.
  • General management practices including strategic planning principles and methods of work planning operational and program planning and quality assurance methods.
  • Current occupational safety and health principles, practices, and developments.

REMOTE/TELEWORK: This position may be eligible to work from an approved worksite within the state of Montana. This position would be required to report to a Department of Revenue office assigned by the supervisor. Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisors approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

The minimum level needed on the first day of work is

  • One year of post-secondary education or training in accounting, purchasing, procurement, business, office administration or directly related field.
  • Two years of job-related work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis
