WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

MCPD seeks an Administrative Specialist III . The employee will be responsible for overseeing a Human Resources functions within the Personnel Division.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing professional level Human Resources (HR) functions in the Personnel Division.
  • Conducting recruitments, facilitating testing and processing applicants through the hiring process.
  • Researching and responding to HR issues.
  • Assisting with classification and compensation transfer processes and other human resource related programs.
  • Coordinating actions with staff members.
  • Overseeing paperwork transmission, and the timely and accurate completion of processes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within a specified timeframe.

Minimum Qualifications


Experience:
Three (3) years of professional experience related to Human Resources (HR) Administration.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Substitutions :

1. EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

2. EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional relevant administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for year basis.




Preferred Criteria


There are NO Preferred Criteria Assessments
. All Applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated “Qualified”, placed on the eligible list, and may be considered for an interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications of the same grade or higher will be placed on the Eligible List as a “Transfer” candidate and may be considered for an interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following.

  • Experience with recruitment, testing and hiring.
  • Experience coordinating HR functions including but not limited to classification, compensation, and transfers.
  • Experience resolving HR issues and problems in a public safety setting.
  • Experience handling FMLA, performance evaluations, employee tracking and/or other HR processes.
  • Experience utilizing automated HR systems.
