Provides technical guidance on a wide range of personnel safety issues including the identification of risks, safeguards, and associated assurance activities. Manages the execution of all facets of Control of Work, including Managing Safe Work (MSW), Contractor Health Environment and Safety Management (CHESM), Motor Vehicle Safety (MVS), and other workforce safety programs. Provides workforce safety guidance and support to operations. Teams with technical safety specialists to develop Safety in Design for new and modified facilities.
Supports major customers/clients and leads projects of medium scope and complexity under limited supervision. Detailed knowledge of most aspects of the work function. This position involves a blend of office and field work. Each Safety Specialist is assigned a dedicated area of the refinery for which they are responsible. - Support safe execution of operations and maintenance activities in the field
- Monitor safety protocols and compliance within the assigned area
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance safety practices
- Performing field engagements on high consequence work to assure critical safeguards are in place and effective
- Communicate safety guidelines to personnel.
- Ensuring compliance with internal requirements and external regulations
- Attend area specific weekly meetings and field walks with management
- Provide safety support and representation for incident investigations, health and safety evaluations, etc.
- Revalidating and updating refinery standards related to safe work practices
- Be proficient in navigating the refinery and related structures
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Quantified experience: minimum 10 years’ experience in occupational health & safety roles
- Problem-solving and gap resolution skills
- Great oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency using computers and Microsoft applications (i.e. excel, word, outlook, teams, etc.)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or other related scientific disciplines
- Certification: Professional certifications or licenses related to occupational health and safety
- Quantified experience: 10-15 yrs. work experience in occupational health & safety
- Incident investigation experience
- Procedure/Standard writing and updating experience
- Prior experience conducting training with field workers

The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on his or her skills, experience, and qualifications. Please note that the compensation and benefits listed below are only applicable to successful candidates who are hired onto local United States payroll.
- The anticipated salary range for this position is $144,500 – $196,400.
