Scheduler
Summary
The Scheduler performs all routine clerical tasks and schedules all exams/procedures for all hospital-based services including:
- Outpatient diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Initial therapy evaluations
- Surgical cases with the exception of same day cases
- Initial request for clinic visits
- Referrals and services for inpatients, ordered at discharge, to be provided post discharge
- Scheduled admissions for future dates

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- knowledge of general business operations, scheduling, insurance, and coding.
- Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials such as letters of medical necessity, letters of insurance payment appeals, and patient records
- Ability to type 35 words per minute
- Basic understanding of medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of basic computer operations acquired either through work experience or education, required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others work flow.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- As initial patient liaison, coordinates all patient care procedures via telephone communications and direct patient contact for hospital-based exams and procedures.
- Reviews and maintains patient care information.
- Completes patients medical and/or insurance file from initial interview and distributes files as specified in departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Physical Requirements
- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work – exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures transcribing viewing a computer terminal or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
