Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. Germanna Community College is currently seeking an Online Academic Advisor. The position will provide access to comprehensive advising services as part of an educational and career pipeline for all students from connection to completion.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide high quality online academic support services to students via Zoom, email, and phone, including education regarding goal setting, time management and organizational skills, study skills, self-advocacy skills, and assistance with task analysis.
  • Advise students on degree, certificate, and credential requirements, course requirements and scheduling options, attendance issues, and course withdrawal.
  • Ensure new students have completed established checklist items.
  • Provide information related to career planning and transfer options.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
