The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Oil and Gas is seeking to fill a long-term non-permanent Natural Resource Technician 2 position in the State Pipeline Coordinator’s Section (SPCS) in Anchorage as part of a team, scanning hard copy casefiles into the Division’s document management system. The position requires attention to detail, a methodical approach to work, and strong communication skills.

Mission and Culture
The DNR mission is to develop, conserve and maximize the use of Alaskas natural resources consistent with the public interest. The State Pipeline Coordinator’s Section (SPCS) of the Division of Oil and Gas provides regulatory oversight of common-carrier and contract-carrier transportation pipelines authorized under Alaska Statute 38.35, the Right-of-Way Leasing Act. To facilitate a comprehensive oversight program, the SPCS works closely with other divisions within the Department of Natural Resources and with dedicated liaisons from the Departments of Fish and Game, Environmental Conservation, Labor and Workforce Development, and Public Safety.

This position will facilitate the transition of our files into an electronic repository where all team members can access the information.

Core Responsibilities
This non-permanent position will continue the implementation of scanning hard-copy SPCS casefiles. The duties include independently preparing and scanning documents, consulting with subject matter experts to determine placement, and developing protocols to guide the work. The position may implement steps for quality control of the project, including spot checks and corrections, and drafting procedures. In addition, the position will be responsible for tracking and reporting and will participate in a workgroup designing the document management system. Position may be asked to participate in other related casefile activities.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
The position is located on the 8th floor of the Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage. It has a 7.5-hour work schedule Monday through Friday, including core office hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months of experience at the entry level performing technical functions of natural resource management equivalent to a Natural Resource Technician 1, Forest Technician 3 or Environmental Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
Six months of clerical work experience equivalent to an Administrative Clerk 3 or Recorder 1 with the State of Alaska.

OR
16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution.

OR
Any combination of the above where 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours is equivalent to one month of experience.
