Job Description : The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) helps customers discover and define opportunities that shape their lives. The Library serves the 967,000+ residents of Prince George’s County, Maryland through 19 branch libraries, a 24/7 online library, and pop-up services throughout the community. PGCMLS seeks two (2) grant funded Rover2Go Associates to participate in the daily operations and activities of the Rober2Go Mobile Library, providing reference services, circulation services, and programs with a specialized focus on workforce and career development.
All Rover2Go positions are grant funded through February 2027. Essential Duties:
  • Provide information and program services related to the Rover2Go Mobile Library, including reference services, reader’s advisory, technology assistance, and instruction on the use of library catalog, databases, and resources.
  • Assist with circulation services as needed.
  • Operate library vehicles, including the Rover2Go Mobile Library, to facilitate the delivery of library services, materials, and programs.
  • Serve as the person in charge in the absence of the Coordinator, ensuring the safety and security of customers and employees.
  • Promote the Rover2Go Mobile Library, services, and collections to the community.
  • Responsible for the daily vehicle safety and maintenance procedures for the Rover2Go Mobile Library.
  • Provide community outreach to town and county agencies, Employ Prince George’s, other workforce development organizations, and schools/colleges.
  • Plan, develop, deliver, and promote in-person programs for the Rover2Go Mobile Library, including workforce and career development programs. This includes creating program plans.
  • Participate in the maintenance and development of the library collection by weeding, identifying library materials in need of replacement, and identifying areas of the collection in need of additional materials, according to established procedures.
  • Perform routine data entry, including entering customer information into the integrated library system.
  • Create and maintain office files and department records appropriately, including records necessary for the reporting of the Rover2Go Mobile Library to the Department of Labor.
  • Acts as an ambassador and advocate for the library.
  • On a quarterly basis, discuss and evaluate statistics with the team lead and colleagues adjusting as necessary to attain program goals.
  • Prepare correspondences and reports, including maintaining records necessary for reporting the activities of the Rover2Go Mobile Library to the Department of Labor.
  • Assists with special projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • One to three of years of working in a library setting or, experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Willingness to complete Workforce Development Certification in the first year of employment.
  • Bilingual in English and a second language preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Willingness to travel (usually within the county), approximately 75% of the time.
  • Considerable knowledge of literature, reference and information materials, publishers, and periodicals preferred.
  • Knowledge of public library reference tools, including web and database searching.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate relevant computer systems including hardware and software, such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, electronic databases, e-mail, smartphones and tablets, and internet navigation in addition to other office equipment and security systems.
