Join the dynamic team in the Communications Division at the City of Lincoln! We are a dedicated group of professionals committed to serving our community and advancing the interests of our city. As part of our efforts to engage with residents and communicate effectively, we are seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our team.

As a Graphic Designer on the City Communications team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visual identity of our city and conveying important information to our residents. You will work closely with our communications team to create engaging and informative graphics for various platforms, including social media, websites, print materials, presentations, and more.

What does a day in the life look like?
  • Creating print and digital materials such as brochures, posters, packaging, and other visual media for the City of Lincoln and its divisions.
  • Managing multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to strict deadlines and ensuring on-time delivery of high-quality work.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including public information officers, City staff, designers, copywriters, and developers, to execute projects effectively.
  • Leading and guiding the development of brand design strategies, ensuring consistency across all visual elements and channels.
  • Mentoring team members who assist with design, providing constructive feedback and fostering their growth and development.
  • Encouraging a collaborative and creative work environment, motivating the team to achieve outstanding results.

  • You are eligible to receive up to six weeks of paid parental leave following the birth of a child/children or starting the placement of a child/children through adoption or foster care.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in broadcasting, journalism, communications, marketing, business or public administration emphasizing public relations, public affairs and public information work or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.

To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.

To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.

Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
