The Mission of the Ohio Department of Commerce is promoting prosperity by protecting what matters most.

The Division of Unclaimed Funds reunites Ohioans with their hard-earned but forgotten money. This includes taking reports of unclaimed funds that result when an account becomes dormant and the business no longer has contact information for the account owner, holding these funds for safekeeping and working aggressively to track down the rightful owner.

What Youll Do:

  • Conducts search of hardcopy or computerized records
  • Answers a multi-line telephone system (i.e., takes messages, refers calls, greets walk-in customers, directs and/or registers customers furnishes printed materials or claim forms.)
  • Provides basic/routine information to resolve questions or complaints from internal and external customers in response to claim inquires provides general information concerning agency/division operations/services
  • Mails out correspondence and other information as necessary
  • Performs, as assigned, daily importing, printing and prepares for mailing Internet claim forms via the Wagers Unclaimed Property System, prepares and/or maintains reports concerning work processed, (e.g., maintains record of calls and inquiries received, and handled)

Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm in office

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May be confined to desk answering telephone for 6.5 – 7 hours per day may work second or third shift &amp weekends in units with 24 hour/7 days per week operations.

Qualifications
3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in office practices &amp procedures 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service to include techniques for dealing with difficult people 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above. Note: in the telecommunications section, within the Ohio Department of Public Safety, employees will automatically be reassigned to the Customer Services Assistant 2, 64432 classification after serving 6 months as a Customer Service Assistant 1, 64431.
