Job Description : The incumbent will be in a journey level position independently serving as a management consultant performing analytical budgetary work for one or more departmental divisions. This includes developing, implementing, educating, customer assistance, monitoring and maintaining the budgets for assigned divisions.

About this Role:
The role of the Budget Analyst is to help develop, implement, and monitor the DHCS budget which impacts Fiscal, and DHCS as a whole.
This is position is eligible for telework. Please refer to the duty statement attached below and the “Working Conditions” section on this Job Control for additional information.

This position is located in East End Complex (EEC) across the street from the California State Capitol Park and the Rose Garden. The EEC is walking distance to public transportation and near various eateries.
The Fiscal Program’s Financial Management Division (FMD) works to accomplish DHCS’s mission through fiscal integrity, transparency and accountability of approximately $156.6 billion annually. This is accomplished by overseeing the financial operations of DHCS, including financial reporting, resource management, and budget development and oversight. FMD provides guidance and consultation to programs on funding needs, expenditures, including contracts and purchasing, and audit support, while ensuring funds are accurately reported.

Telework Information

This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
