Headquartered in Kennesaw, Georgia, we have a key opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant II. This person will report to the VP, Underwriting and will be based in our Birmingham, AL office. Hybrid Work Schedule. Position Summary: Under supervision, performs various clerical tasks to assist in the processing and renewal of policies and contracts for the Underwriting Department. Key Responsibilities: Relying on limited experience and knowledge, the Underwriting Assistant II is responsible for accomplishing the following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature and frequently non-routine.

- Open, save and log/assign RFP information received in the regional RFP mailbox. Identify duplicate submissions or renewals.
- Assist the UAIII by populating the RFP information into the underwriting module.
- Manipulate census data into format acceptable by the underwriting module and upload the augmented file to PA and assign to UA III/Sr UA for further processing.
- Send out renewal letters requesting information for renewal underwriting.
- Sell new business and renewing cases over in the PA system upon notification of sale by the underwriting team.
- Update and maintain current year case profile in Policy Administration module.
- Review and journalize all specific and aggregate reports for the 12 months policy period.
- Journalize all information pertaining to the sold case policy.
- Send producers sold case application sold quote summary pages.
- Check Licensing Agent or confirm with Licensing Department.
- Be the main point of contact on RFPs and sold accounts and keep others informed of the case progress.
- Resell case in the system and send revised applications when necessary.
- Receive processed applications and verify assigned contacts at the producer, administrator and cost containment vendors.
- Check signatures on the application to assure that the producer is licensed.
- Check the confirmed/not confirmed licensing reports and the Binder Premium Reports.
- Complete any mid-year changes TPA/BOR when necessary.
- Complete the variance report once premium is received/applied. If unacceptable, send to underwriter for approval.
- Order policy once all checklist items received and approved.
- Provide training to team members/new hires as directed by management.
- Backup to Medical Underwriting Assistant as needed by management.
- Perform other general clerical duties as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as plans of benefits, bid specifications, claim reports, and procedural manuals.
- Possess and have the ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Good organizational and analytical skills demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
