1. Physical
a. Ability to perform a variety of interaction with children on the floor/ground.
b. Ability to change clothes and diapers.
c. Ability to change clothes and diapers according to processes outlined in orientation materials.
d. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a daily basis.
e. Ability to work with any age group assigned flexibility to change area of assignment as requested.

2. Cognitive
. Ability to observe children within a wide range of vision respond for safety and emergency care provide warmth, acceptance, and accurate interpretation of childrens needs.
a. Demonstrates good judgement in making decisions in all aspects of childcare organizes time and deals with multiple priorities.
b. Uses descriptive feedback when engaging with children.
c. Provides documentation as required (Child-related: assist full time staff when requested) (Personnel-related: educational certificates, health form).
d. Empowers children to try new things and celebrates childrens achievements without creating tension when a child is resistant.
e. Follows classroom routines with a flexible attitude.
f. Understands departmental policies or asks supervisor for clarity.
g. Completes required number of professional development hours per state licensing regulations.

3. Interpersonal Skills
. Greets parents, children, extended family, and other visitors immediately and warmly.
a. Acknowledges co-workers from other departments when at the center to perform duties (Housekeeping, Plant Operations, Food and Nutrition).
b. Attends each department staff meeting and participates by being involved in discussions regarding the program.
c. Maintains professional relationships with staff and families by adhering to confidentiality policies at work and outside work.

4. Safety
. Complies with all hospital policies local fire and health department codes New Hampshire state Childcare Licensing Bureau Regulations and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
a. Exercises care in the operation and use of childcare equipment.
b. Monitors safety of children through observations of individuals and the environment on a continuous basis.
c. Is familiar with and follows guidelines of the centers Security Statement – – introducing self to unfamiliar visitors asking for photographic identification calling Security (2448) when necessary and being knowledgeable of hospital emergency codes (back of ID badges).
d. Immediately reports safety and security concerns to a department supervisor.
Qualifications Experience Minimum Required
  • Responsible for childcare at home or within a school curriculum.
  • 1 year of experience

Education Minimum Required
  • High school (completed or in progress)

Special Skills Minimum Required
  • Possess traits of creativity, nurturing, and personal warmth.
  • Possess good communication skills, a willingness to work as a team with co-workers, and an acceptance of and adherence to the Ethical Conduct Code of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
