Job Description :

Perform secretarial, data management, and related duties for Surgical Services. Coordinate, communicate, process, and schedule all Operating Room cases while providing optimum team support within the Operating Room. Input all charges.

Responsibilities

• Arrange, change, and/or cancel operations in elective, add-on, and emergency schedules, notifying the appropriate personnel, while maintaining an awareness of the availability of staff and equipment to fulfill patient and surgeons needs. • Distribute advance and daily surgery schedules to appropriate departments and personnel. • Collect and compile all computer data, and other data, for the Operating Room. • Develop and maintain a library for logs, statistical data, and patient transactions. • Gather and organize data into proper computer format, making accurate mathematical calculations to ensure the proper preparation and printing of bills proofread and distribute data to the appropriate individuals for billing, stocking and inventory control purposes. • Use computer software to deploy billing, inventory control, and statistical reporting information. • Maintain interdepartmental communications to ensure accurate information for computer data management. • Answer the telephone, receiving and delivering messages appropriately. • Maintain the office supply inventory. • Input charges into the DeRoyal system. • Cross train with controllers.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs 2) knowledge of growth and development and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (Required) Experience: 6-12 months of Medical Terminology experience Comments: Must be familiar with health information systems.
