Overview

Come work at the Vermont Department of Health, Division of Substance Use Programs! We have an opportunity for someone who is passionate about addressing the causes of substance misuse and overdose and reducing their negative impacts on individuals and communities. The Program Evaluator will play a critical role in shaping the future of overdose prevention programming in Vermont by evaluating the effectiveness of our programs and using those results to inform programming decisions. This work is ideal for someone who is a skilled communicator, analytical thinker, and data-driven problem solver.

The ideal candidate embraces a challenge and has a background that includes an understanding of data systems, data analysis, information technology processes, program evaluation, and grant and contract management. While most work is performed in the office at standard state hours, some in and out of state travel is required. This position, Substance Use Program Evaluator – Limited Service (Job Requisition #49724) , is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Some travel may be required, for which private means of transportation may be necessary. Some work outside normal office hours may be anticipated. Stress may be encountered from deadlines and expectations for significant positive organizational change.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelors degree or higher in public administration, epidemiology, public health, social sciences discipline, technology field or other closely related field AND two (2) years or more at a professional level in program evaluation or performance improvement/quality assurance programs.

OR

High School diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years or more at a professional level in program evaluation or performance improvement/quality assurance programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in substance use prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery programming.
