Owens Corning Composites Division: Fort Smith Plant

Started Operations in 1985

Fort Smith team works 24/7 creating wet formed fiberglass mat that is used in further manufacturing processes, such as shingles. Our new facility is nearing completion and has increased the size of our team, and another new production line is just starting construction.

SUMMARY

The Storeroom Receiving Clerk will follow Distribution and Storeroom procedures and is the backup for receiving, storing, and disbursing incoming stores material. In addition, the employee is the backup for shipping orders as required. The employee is expected to be an active participant in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams and management.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all Owens Corning safety policies and procedures, operates under Safer Together methodology
  • Assists in receiving, loading, unloading, correctly storing, and distributing incoming items to production floor and general over the counter responsibilities.
  • Processes forms and records, and coordinates with carriers and production, verifies receipts and shipment preparation.
  • Ability to research and obtain parts for industrial machines in a timely manner locally and/or through online vendors.
  • Maintains Sarbanes Oxley compliance within job function for related compliance tasks including documentation, record retention, maintaining annual certification and testing.
  • Completes records and reports
  • Records Material Receipts and enters goods issue in SAP
  • Directs delivery drivers to the proper unloading area and unloads cars or trucks as required.
  • Executes the storeroom cycle counting process as requested by the Storeroom Tech.
  • Assists in positioning bins and equipment in the storage area.
  • Complete training for all OSHA and Industry/Plant Required Safety Programs: Powered Industrial Trucks, LOTO, Confined Space Entry, HazMat, and Fall Protection usage.
  • Always ensures clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas.
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor.

  • Must have the ability to correctly complete basic mathematical calculations
  • Must be able to navigate the internet for rare and hard to find parts and products


COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

  • Operate a computer or other standard office equipment
  • Must have basic knowledge of email, internet usage, and data entry.
  • Must become proficient in Microsoft Office Suite within 6 months
  • Must become proficient in SAP within 90 days


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred related experience and/or training in an industrial environment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to safeguard self with proper PPE for the specific task

  • Wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation) – continuously
  • Walk, Sit, Stand for duration of shift with regular breaks
  • Lift/carry/move up to 50 lbs. independently and heavier weights with assistance.
  • Climb stairs, steps, and ladders, as well as work at heights on equipment, platforms, and walkways.
  • Perform bending, squatting, kneeling, leaning, and reaching at both ground level and overhead.
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Communicate with co-workers face to face, by telephone, and electronic communications.
  • Able to give and understand instructions and hold conversations in manufacturing environment, as well as an office or classroom setting.
  • Possess manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment, operate a computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Vision adequate to manipulate equipment controls, complete paperwork, utilize computers, and have depth perception.
