The Senior Business Analyst will conduct and manage outcomes of various studies that include analyzing, reviewing, forecasting, trending, and presenting information for operational and business planning. They support short and long term operational/strategic business activities – by developing, enhancing, and maintaining operational information and models. They also develop and implement effective/strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes. A general job profile includes working with less structured, more complex issues and serving as a resource to others with little or no direction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead business process analysis to identify and assess key business issues, gaps or needs (technical, product, service, process, operations, organizational)
  • Ability to lead and document ‘as-is’ and ‘to-be’ business processes and support gap analysis and identification in reaching desired outcome
  • Lead evaluation and validation of business analysis and develop recommendations. Able to identify and document key business risks, issues, gaps, and needs
  • Recognize gaps between current situation and desired outcome and utilize appropriate resources to obtain information, consider options, document recommendations, and deliver the appropriate solution
  • Analyze data, drive root cause analysis and issue resolution planning. Gather business requirements to support operational process improvements and client implementations
  • Able to lead extensive understanding of business processes and contribute to resolution of complex business problems (technical, product, service, process, operations, organizational)
  • Leading requirements walk-through sessions to gain consensus and assist sign off to initiate development for technology related projects or the implementation of new or enhanced business processes. Able to work across a matrix environment to engage appropriate internal and external
  • partners to assure successful analysis, risk identification, option determination and tactical execution
  • Able to define and appropriately document project issues, risks, and deliverables. Able to review the analysis and interpretation of others work to further project progress and drive business success including ability to analyze root cause issue, problem solve and provide key recommendations for process improvements
  • Work across a matrix environment to engage appropriate internal and external partners to assure successful analysis, option determination and tactical execution
  • Able to define communication plan needs in support of the business/project, and to be able to lead documentation of key communication needs, in preparation for presentation
  • Ability to lead full business requirements analysis efforts and begin to manage scope changes relevant to the business requirements. Able to collaborate appropriate with business to identify possible solutions and coordinate with possible solution providers (i.e., IT)
  • Lead efforts to effectively engage/partner with project team/cross-functional teams to elicit and appropriately document business processes and requirements. Including current and future state, as well as ability to identify and document resolution recommendations for gap management
  • Able to lead project documentation efforts, including identifying whats appropriate for the project and business need. Providing direction and consistent and repeatable levels of quality
  • Able to create a communication plan and effectively manage expectations across the project team. Able to identify key and peripheral stakeholders and SMEs, for the purposes of engagement for business requirements management, risk and gap analysis and status updates

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • 3+ years of business analyst experience
  • Experience in a working in a matrixed enterprise environment
  • Proven solid communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational, prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to gain acceptance for ideas, plans, actions and then implement across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
  • Proven excellent facilitation and relationship building skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business operations strategy definition and execution in a matrixed organization
  • Familiarity with Optum and Optum’s products &amp services
  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience with Smartsheets

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $70,200 to $137,800 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
