MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
No experience or training is required.

Job Concepts

Function of Work:
To train to establish and maintain a comprehensive, agency-wide accident prevention and training program in accordance with accepted safety principles.

Level of Work:
Entry.

Supervision Received:
Close from an agency administrator.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Safety Program Coordinator by lack of journeyman level agency safety program coordination work.

Examples of Work

Trains to coordinate safety programs for a large institution/agency.

Learns to review construction plans, sketches and drawings to ensure compliance with safety and fire codes.

Assists in conducting inspections of office buildings, equipment and job sites for compliance with safety and fire codes.

Trains to conduct safety meetings for the agency to inform employees of newest rules and procedures.

Assists in notifying supervisors of procedural and safety hazards in their sections.

Learns to conduct investigations of accidents and work-related injuries to determine causes and circumstances and to recommend remedial actions.

Learns to prepare investigation and accident reports.

Learns to serve as liaison between the agency and outside agencies concerning Workmans Compensation claims.

Learns to establish and conduct education training programs for
numerous and varying safety related job programs.

Assists in developing policies related to safety.

Learns to compile accident statistics and hazards data, records, and trends by using computer programming and hazard abatement.

Assists in serving as compliance officer in areas of ICF/MR regulations in all physical and fire hazard areas.
