POSITION PURPOSE

The Safety Coordinator supports the HSE Manager in carrying out various health and safety programs and procedures. The Safety Coordinator is expected to work directly with frontline safety leaders and operators to assist with safety compliance, risk assessment, hazard identification and mitigation, and positive safety culture promotion.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | SAFETY COORDINATOR

  • Monitor mine activities for compliance with MSHA and company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct site specific safety training for employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
  • Positively interact with appropriate agencies, contractors, and vendors.
  • Schedule regular site inspections, mock emergencies/evacuations, and other regularly occurring safety events.
  • Participate in regulatory safety inspections.
  • Maintain and accurately log various safety and training documentation.
  • Abide by GMA Mining USA’s health, safety and environmental policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in optimizing and implementing company safety programs.
  • Managing the use and functionality of the cloud-based Safety Management System.
  • Data entry and tracking of hazard reports, incident investigations, area inspections, and other regularly occurring safety documents using SharePoint.
  • Participate in accident investigations and root cause analysis for varying levels of on-site incidents.
  • Help complete mobile and fixed plant risk assessments for entire mine.
  • Assist with data entry from personal health monitoring samples (Noise and Dust Monitoring).
  • Work closely with frontline safety leaders to implement safety initiatives and ensure compliance with site safety expectations.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Manager.
Requirements:

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of safety experience in an industrial setting.
  • A sufficient combination of data entry and/or Microsoft Office experience may be accepted in place of safety experience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Power Apps) required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and efficiently schedule many tasks of varying importance.
  • Familiarization with State and Federal regulations. (OSHA, MSHA, FMCSA, DEQ)
  • Shows initiative and able to work independently and in teams.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Power Apps.
