The department of Undergraduate Admissions at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Regional Recruiter.

About the Opportunity

The Regional Recruiter plans and implements a student recruitment program designed to meet enrollment goals in a targeted geographic area with specific student populations. The designated territory for this position is established in the Travel and Territory Management Section below. The regional recruiter conducts programmatic and individual activities while functioning as part of the larger WVU Admissions and Recruitment team. The Regional Recruiter also serves as a liaison and resource for numerous constituents, including guidance and career counselors, educators and administrators, prospective students and families, regional colleagues, community-based organizations, regional recruitment and professional organizations, alumni and parents, and campus-based staff and partners. The specific duties are as follows, and secondary duties in support of the regional recruitment model and campus-based recruitment office will be assigned as needed. The candidate is required to live within the market as defined and approved by their direct supervisor preference will be given to candidates who reside in or are relocating to the primary market.

What Youll Do

Office, Budget, and Technology

  • The individual in this position must reside in or relocate to the recruiting territory defined in the Travel and Territory Management section of this document.
  • Independently establish, operate, and maintain a remote home-office space as directed by the Director of Regional Recruitment.
  • Provide space for, and maintain, an inventory of all admission publications and other WVU materials.
  • Oversee and responsibly administrate a regional operational budget, directed by the Director of Regional Recruitment.
  • Accountable for use and maintenance of WVU issued technology.
  • Maintain professional memberships assigned and approved by supervisor.

Travel and Territory Management

  • The territory for this position includes the primary market of Maryland. Additional markets may be added in support of market needs.
  • Partner with supervisor, regional teammates, and assigned University Relations staff to develop a Territory Management Plan for the assigned market that includes promotion and branding of WVU at college fairs, high school visits, panels and information sessions, virtual sessions and special events.
  • Establish and maintain database of all guidance/career counselors, educators and administrators in support of recruitment initiatives.
  • Transport materials, set up recruitment displays, and represent WVU with integrity and professionalism at all recruitment events.
  • Administrate year-round travel schedule, in collaboration with supervisor and regional team this is reflective of the assigned market during traditional fall and spring recruitment seasons, as well as regional and seasonal opportunities identified year-round.
  • Facilitate travel arrangements and procedural filing as required by the University.
  • Analyze data and research reflective of trends in assigned market provide feedback as to additional data needs that adequately reflect market trends.

Events

  • Organize, plan, and host WVU specific recruitment in-person and virtual events in the market as assigned by supervisor.
  • When directed by supervisor, assist with Old Gold New Blue and Parents Club events.
  • Engage in and facilitate conceptual planning and organization of regional events with affiliates (CACRAO)
  • Plan and moderate supervisor approved one-on-one and market informational/yield sessions.
  • Collaborate with regional team and campus-based partners to facilitate reverse tours and VIP visit opportunities for guidance and career counselors to campus.

Communication and Outreach

  • Manage prospective student communication by phone, email, virtual, and print.
  • Facilitate assigned call campaign throughout recruitment cycle.
  • Collaborate with regional colleagues to manage general email account.
  • Plan and execute proactive recruitment outreach via email, virtual, video, phone, and written communication to prospective students and constituents.
  • Partner with regional team to organize and execute informational virtual workshops for prospective students.

Return to Campus

  • Multiple visits to campus annually will be required and may include: special events, training, retreats, and office support.

Reports and Expenses

  • As directed by the Director of Regional Recruitment, reports may include the following: Weekly Operational, Monthly Territory Management, Expense and Budget, event proposals, Event Recap, Travel and Territory Management, Annual Plan and Recap, Communications, funnel activity.
  • Ethically follow WVU policy and procedure with expenditures, budget, and resources.
  • Document all expenditures as outlined by the WVU Essential Business Office and supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree and two or more years of related professional work experience. Will consider candidates with a bachelor’s degree and four or more years of directly related experience.
  • In addition to the formal education and/or training requirements of this job, experience is preferred in higher education, recruitment, marketing, public relations, counseling or sales.
  • Must reside within 100 miles of Hagerstown, Maryland. Preference for residency given to heavily targeted recruitment areas.
  • Ability to relate to the concerns of prospective students and parents and the ability to counsel regarding future educational opportunities and financial obligations.
  • Outstanding commitment to and demonstrates skills related to customer service.
  • Event planning, execution, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing grammar, web-content, and promotional materials.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the undergraduate curricular and co-curricular experience at a larger, public institution.

  • Experience with BANNER, Salesforce and/or Target X, Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and Office 365.
