Job Description :

Duties

DUTY 1:
As recreation assistant assures policies and rules are adhered by various customers and patrons, and maintains equipment and facilities.

DUTY 2:
Provide customer service to patrons and performs assigned duty tasks. Monitors those entering the facility, greets customers and permits only those persons on official business to remain in the facility.

DUTY 3:
Cleans and maintains all the areas in the Fitness facilities not cleaned and maintained by contract cleaners and performs laundry duties.

DUTY 4:
Organizes and manages athletic fields for Commanders Cup and Special Events. Assesses and manages athletic programs and fields to support fitness programs.

  • Must meet and maintain applicable eligibility criteria IAW AFI 34-266, Air Force Fitness and Sports Programs.
  • Position requires physical dexterity and ability, heavy physical exertion (lifting up to 50 pounds), and exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Limited typing may be required, as needed. A qualified typist is not required.

Qualifications

This is a GG-05 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-05 duties for the Technician/Administrative Support work category are at the Entry/Developmental work level and are equivalent to those at the GG-05 level. The selectees salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectees qualifications in relation to the job.

To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements describes in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience includes: serving as an aid or assistant assignments in recreation while on active military service or in the organization and administration of recreation activities, such as preparing activities calendars, maintaining attendance records, and providing information concerning schedules and activities knowledge of basic or commonly used rules, procedures, and operations including principles and techniques of recreations and methods involved with fitness and sports programs knowledge of the assigned equipment within the fitness center knowledge of Air Force Instructions (AFIs), DoD/MAJCOM directives, local policies and various regulations, practices, and procedures knowledge of unit fire, safety, and building security regulations knowledge of clerical procedures. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

OR

EDUCATION: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelors degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education.

AND

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs ): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of principles and techniques of recreations and knowledge of the methods involved with fitness and sports programs.
2. Knowledge of the assigned equipment within the fitness center, how it functions, and required safety rules and regulations.
3. Knowledge of clerical procedures and ability to accurately complete, review, and maintain records.
4. Knowledge of and ability to interpret Air Force Instructions, DoD/MAJCOM directives, local policies and various regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to apply unit fire, safety, and building security regulations.
5. Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others and contend with a range of problems common to a fitness and sports environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
1. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE : Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
