POWERHOUSE CHEMICAL OPERATOR

DuPont’s Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Powerhouse Chemical Operator.

The Powerhouse Chemical Operator will be responsible for maintaining all chemical inventories, adding chemicals for boilers, cooling tower water and chilled water using vendor manuals, hand tools, special tools, to maintain water specifications.

Monitor and operate powerhouse plant equipment and facilities including field equipment, ensuring quality and conformance with standard operating procedures. Maintain safety standards at all times and initiate and follow emergency procedures when necessary. Perform basic maintenance repair and upkeep on area equipment. Makes minor repairs and lubricates equipment. Patrols areas to monitor operating systems. Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management systems and high hazard processes.

Key essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Management of site pH neutralization system – Takes daily readings, adjusts feed rates and hopper level, orders additional sodium bicarbonate as needed

• Powerhouse bulk chemical management – Monitors chemical levels, places orders, schedules, manages and oversees all deliveries

• Manages all powerhouse waste and 90-day areas

• Completes FLS Inspections and maintenance of these areas

• Oversees Powerhouse SPCC program adherence

The following are required:

• High School diploma /GED required a degree or Certificate from an accredited college or technical school in power plant technology or equivalent is preferred

• A valid driver’s license

• Ability to: lift 10 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs. regularly, 55 lbs. occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and columns stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, utilize visual acuity, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms and work in confined spaces as needed

• Ability to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, hearing protection, arc protective clothing, and respirator as needed

• Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team or as an individual
