Pay rate starts at $15.84 an hour per the 1386A AFSCME Working Agreement. After 6 months of successful employment, pay rate will go up to $16.63 an hour per the 1386A AFSCME Working Agreement.

Position is part time and will be located at the Foundry Garage and the schedule is Saturday and Sunday 7:30am-2:00pm.

The purposes of this position are to assist in providing for the proper use and maintenance of the Citys parking facilities and to collect parking fees. Facility supervision work includes taking a periodic inventory of available parking spaces, placing temporary direction signs to available parking, reminding motorists of proper parking requirements, providing visual facility security services, notifying the police of the need for their services, and posting the facility full as appropriate. The position performs light maintenance services when not required to be at an attendants booth or other assigned facility supervisory location. Parking fees are collected from customers according to the Citys fee schedule and identified procedures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. Loads ticket dispensing machines. Maintains ticket control records. Checks machines for proper operation, and advises his/her supervisor of required maintenance.

Calculates parking duration and the appropriate parking fee. Receives cash payments. Calculates and provides the proper change due. Verifies parking permit validity. Performs fee collection daily cash proofs as required.

Inspects the assigned facility for parking space availability, proper vehicle parking, and general cleanliness. Looks for inappropriate customer behavior or other suspicious activity and reports same to the police according to proscribed procedures. Posts and otherwise directs customers to the closest available parking. Removes and appropriately disposes of trash and debris. Observes, appropriately corrects, and reports problems experienced by customers in their use of the parking facility.

  • Cleans and performs light maintenance to parking attendant booths, storage and common service areas including light bulb replacements, incidental painting, sweeping, shoveling snow from entrances and walkways, and applying deicing chemicals. Advises his/her supervisor of other required facility maintenance e.g., elevator repairs, surface repairs, potential hazards, space striping, and refurbishing stairwells, waiting areas, etc.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or have a graduate equivalent diploma (GED), previous work experience which demonstrates the ability to work in a positive manner with customers, have a valid drivers license, and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict bonding by any carrier or agent providing coverage to the City.
