WHAT WE OFFER
Covestro is in search of Material Handlers for our production facility in New Martinsville, WV. The primary purpose of this role is to package and prepare products for shipment to external and internal customers. These are union positions in ICWU-C Local 566-C and have a 90-day probationary period per the labor agreement. The Material Handlers’ hourly wage rate has been set per the negotiated labor agreement. This position is an entry-level role within the plant – however, Material Handlers will be eligible to bid into Chemical Operator and Maintenance positions according to the labor agreement which have significantly higher hourly wage rates, and other Covestro jobs if they meet the qualifications. Responsibilities:
- Operate motorized equipment, various packaging systems and automated, computer-based warehousing systems
- Prepare containers for shipments from plant.
- Follow strict compliance with all Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Association shipping regulation and meeting all customer requirements.
- Off-load deliveries at the plant
- Operate various packaging stations to meet all production requirements.
- Ensure proper handling of production raw materials, including delivery to unit or staging area, including operation of inventory management system.
- High school diploma or GED and successful completion of the Work Key test.
- Associates Degree
- Completion of Chemical Operator and/or Chemical Technician or related training
- Ability to work a rotating shift is required
- Ability to work overtime is required
- Ability to learn how to operate electric and diesel powered fork lifts
- Ability to work self-directed on the back shifts and weekends
- Required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Required to train, qualify and respond as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Employees in safety critical positions, such as the Warehouse and Emergency Response Team members, are subject to random drug screening
