Manager Quality 1

The quality manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, and training a highly skilled team of professionals in performing product acceptance inspections of hardware and raw materials for NASA, Strategic, Specialty Products, Commercial and other programs.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Lead laboratory engineering technicians’ day-to-day activities.
  • Assure work crew complies with all applicable safety and quality requirements and standards.
  • Develop team members through mentoring and on-the-job training.
  • Proactively assume ownership including cleanliness and working condition of facility, equipment, and instrumentation in area of responsibility and take necessary action when issues are encountered, contact help-chain members for resolution as required.
  • Coordinate with internal and external customers and to ensure that work is completed to requirements, on schedule, and as efficiently as possible.
  • Observe all critical operations to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Lead improvement activities and act as an agent of change.
  • Promote healthy communication within the team extending out to leadership, and supply chain customers.
  • Hire and train successful candidates.
  • Conduct performance reviews and mentor and help team members with development plans.
  • Will utilize demonstrated prior leadership skills and experience ability to analyze problems and perform root cause and corrective action analyses required.
  • Computer knowledge including ESI, QMIS, Pilgrim, Costpoint, Costpoint tag system, ePIC, and desktop applications required.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of experience, associate’s degree with at least 7 years experience, or high school diploma/equivalent with at least 9 years of experience in quality or related field

Experience Preferred:

  • Supervisory: One year in a leadership capacity Group Leader, OTS, TTS .
  • Knowledgeable of quality lab processes and requirements.

Skills &amp Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented but able to understand the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to coach, develop and mentor others.
  • Ability to drive change through creating, sustaining and improving standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and effective interpersonal communication and problem solving skills are desired.
  • Established knowledge in mechanical and chemical laboratory practices.
Salary Range: $90,300 – $135,500 The above salary range represents a general guideline however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
