SUMMARY: The Maintenance Specialist II performs a variety of general, mechanical and preventive maintenance as well as inspections, servicing, repair and overhaul of equipment throughout the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES: * Shows competent knowledge of repair to electrical systems, mechanical systems, and plumbing systems.
OTHER INFORMATION: Five years experience in fields of mechanical and electrical work normally performed by hospital maintenance personnel required. Two years of vocational type courses in areas of training which will qualify a person to fulfill duties of a maintenance mechanic or equivalent training preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Shows competent knowledge of repair to electrical systems, mechanical systems, and plumbing systems.
- Completes minimum repairs and task associated with plant operations with the supervision of the plant operator.
- Consults with and keeps the Chief Engineer or Supervisor informed of activities.
- Consults with and keeps the Chief Engineer or Supervisor informed of needs.
- Consults with and keeps the Chief Engineer or Supervisor informed of problems.
- Stays alert for the “cause” of any repairs made and suggest corrective action.
- Reports hazards in the workplace.
- Performs work orders in a timely manner.
- Is respectful of patient’s condition when working in patient care areas.
- Responds promptly and courteously to patient, family members and staff requests.
- Conducts themself in a professional manner.
- Accepts and acts upon constructive criticism in order to improve abilities.
- Supports performance improvement.
- Supports environment of care program.

- Adheres to confidentiality directives.
- Presents a professional appearance.
- Performs a variety of routine standard servicing and repair operations to maintain organization buildings, equipment, furnishings, and fixtures in proper condition.
- Carries out preventive maintenance programs.
- Takes and logs all gauge and instrument readings as assigned by the Engineer.
- Keeps check on maintenance supplies and parts and advise Engineer when additional stock will be required.
- Assures proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Follows manufacturer’s guidelines when operating mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
- Adheres to isolation problems.
- Assists with coordination of fire drills.
- Keeps work areas orderly, clean and safe.
- Follows MSDS, lockout/tag out, confined space entry and other department specific policies.
- Practices Infection Control Standards daily.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
- Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
- Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
- Attends all mandatory education programs.
- Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
- Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
- Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
- Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
- Manages resources effectively.
- Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
