Summary:
Under limited supervision, coordinates transportation, air, land, and barge services for freight movements of construction materials, equipment, and goods in support of ANTHC/DEHE rural-sanitation construction mission statewide.
Responsibilities:
Serves as the subject matter expert for all logistical planning and shipping prerequisites for the organization.
Determines cost center and references it on Purchase Order (PO). Maintains documentation of materials and equipment. Updates electronic database with equipment information.
Assists with internal and external customers to resolve billing issues with vendors and transportation carriers.
Maintains documentation of all freight movements, charters, PO’s, and prompt payment of shipping invoices. Receives and verifies order for accuracy. Files manifests, PO’s, airway bills, invoices, and other shipping documents.
Provides best routing, costs, and schedules to meet target sailings for project start-up and project backhauls. Researches budgetary costs, obtain vendor quotes and authorization for shipment of materials and equipment.
Participates in pre-construction planning meetings. Provides information to construction and engineering staff for planning purposes and specific logistical information such as weights, dimensions, and diagrams for various freight carriers.
Coordinates all barge movements, hard surface movements, and airplane charters to final destinations. Schedules and coordinates shipment and pick up of materials and equipment at destination.
Performs other duties such as purchasing and contracting tasks as assigned or required.

· Knowledge of purchasing, shipping and materials management techniques
· Knowledge of transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities
· Knowledge of safety precautions when operating motorized vehicles, and equipment
· Knowledge of the methods and procedures for unloading, loading and packaging materials and equipment
· Skill in scheduling and coordinating shipment of construction materials and equipment
· Skill in using analytical and research skills to define and solve problems
· Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others
