Position Description Advertised Job Summary The Institutional Repository Assistant works under the supervision of the Assistant Head, Acquisitions &amp Scholarly Communication to archive and make available scholarly content within the University of South Carolina’s institutional repository. As needed, the Assistant also contributes to the regular functioning of the Acquisitions Department.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma and relevant library experience.
Preferred Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and experience using institutional repository software. Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to perform detailed and complex routines with an electronic information system.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, completeness and thoroughness in work.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Knowledge of library organization, procedures, aims and services.
  • Knowledge of bibliographical principles, publishing industry, reference source materials, cataloging and classification.

Job Duties Job Duty Harvest USC faculty publications through use of ORCID, PubMed Central, or other comparable tools and repositories for inclusion in the institutional repository. Mediate content through correspondence with faculty, copyright investigation, metadata assignment, and uploading scholarly works.
