The State of New Hampshire, Department of Justice, Division of Public Protection, consumer Protection and Anti has a (full-time/part-time, seasonal/temporary) vacancy for (Position Title).


Summary:
To render legal secretarial services for attorneys, paralegals and interns in the Consumer Protection Bureau, Financial Fraud Unit of the Attorney Generals Office.


Responsibilities:


Types pleadings, memoranda, and letters transcribes and interview tapes and composes letters to ensure the timely, accurate and professional completion of documents.

Performs all secretarial duties for assistant attorneys general, attorneys, paralegals and legal interns and provides backup secretarial support to senior assistant attorneys general in absence of legal assistant to ensure the timely, accurate and professional completion of documents.

Enters pleadings and correspondence on computer case management system to ensure complete and accurate case records.

Contacts federal and state agencies, citizens, legislators, attorneys, and court personnel to schedule hearings, meetings and/or conference calls, and directs parties to the appropriate entities.

Organizes and maintains case files, research files, form files, and miscellaneous files enabling prompt retrieval of documents.

Enters data into computer from attorneys’ daily timesheets to determine cost recovery and attorneys’ hourly work schedules to comply with federal grant requirements.

Assists in maintaining the consumer complaint database and helps maintain a file management and tracking system to ensure complaints are tracked and responded to in a timely manner.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associates degree from a recognized college or two years of college with a major in law, paralegal studies, a related legal field or secretarial science. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Two years experience in a secretarial position, including experience in a legal office or an area which provided experience with legal terminology. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
