Job Description and Duties

Under general supervision of the Service Desk and Field Support Services Supervisor (Information Technology Supervisor II), the Associate IT Service Desk Technician will serve as a member of the IT Service Desk and provide technical and administrative support for the California State Lotterys (Lottery) personal computing devices and office productivity software. The duties for this position are focused in the Client Services domain however, work may be assigned in other domains as needed.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidates relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Experience configuring, deploying and supporting PCs hardware, software, operating systems, peripherals, and mobile devices
  • Experience working on an IT Service Desk or call center environment
  • Experience working on IT equipment using remote tools
  • Strong customer service skills, working with various users on IT issues.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop quality documentation that clearly articulates solutions
  • Experience using Microsoft Operating Systems

Working Conditions and Telework Information:

This position is headquartered at the Sacramento HQ and is eligible for either a remote-based or office-based telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as needed. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires employee residence in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.

The Service Desk Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities, and critical deliverables.

a. Schedule: This position has work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. after-hours work. May require occasional work after hours, on weekends, and on holidays

b. Travel: Statewide overnight travel may be required.

c. Other: This position may be required to carry a Lottery-issued cell phone. This position may be required to be reachable outside of normal business hours.
