As a Management and Program Assistant your work will support IRS customer assistance and relationship and education related activities within the Taxpayer Services Division.

Duties

§ Identifies potential and actual problems and probable causes researches specific issues, gathers pertinent statistics or information, reports findings and may recommend corrective action for the full scope of a program or function.

§ Monitors, reviews, and evaluates operations and interrelationships with other functions re workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems.

§ Randomly verifies completeness of specific sets of controls, accuracy of procedures, and timeliness and effectiveness of actions.

§ Revises procedures, controls, etc., as indicated by studies or assigned by analyst.

§ Prepares memoranda, reports, and charts showing findings or recommendations.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required to qualify for any of the grade levels identified below. You will qualify for one of the following opportunities based on your specialized experience and/or education.

Specialized Experience for the GS-05 Grade Level:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the knowledges, skills and abilities required for successful job performance.

Your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of applicable program policies and procedures to assist in identifying potential and actual problems, probable causes, research specific issues, gather pertinent statistics or information, and reports findings. Examples of this type of experience include preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts evaluating redundancy or systematic problems and reviewing timeliness and effectiveness of actions.
OR

Education: You may substitute education for specialized experience for the GS-5 Grade Level as follows:

A bachelors degree or four (4) years of education above high school in any field of study from an accredited college or university.

OR

Combination of Experience and Education: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.

Specialized Experience for the GS-6 Grade Level:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this GS-6 grade level includes experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for successful job performance.

Your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of applicable program policies and procedures to analyze and evaluate information, interpret guidance, draw conclusions, and coordinate studies or projects. Examples of this type of experience include preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts evaluating redundancy or systematic problems and reviewing timeliness and effectiveness of actions and experience performing individual management or program analysis and clerical or technical assignments to provide effective management and program support.

Specialized Experience for the GS-7 Grade Level:

You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for successful job performance.

Your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate extensive knowledge of applicable program policies and procedures to analyze and evaluate information, interpret guidance, draw conclusions, and coordinate studies or projects. Examples of this type of experience include preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts evaluating redundancy or systematic problems and reviewing timeliness and effectiveness of actions. Additionally, experience will include a thorough knowledge of work functions of assigned area and familiarity with objectives to identify problems and gather information and experience performing individual management or program analysis clerical or technical assignments to provide effective management and program support.
