Job Description :

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist is responsible to provide support in ensuring that all personnel functions within Fairmont Federal Credit Union are uniformly applied, operate within the policies and guidelines established, and comply with regulations. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Uphold and live our Vision, Mission, and Values every day.
  • Assist with maintaining the Credit Unions benefit programs. Assists with maintaining and distributing plan documents and employee communications relating to benefits. Assists with administering all leaves of absences requests.
  • Assists with the talent acquisition process. Assists to ensure all hiring processes are effective and legally compliant. Performs and assists with new employee orientation and ensures personnel are well informed of human resources policies and programs.
  • Maintains and processes the organizations payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
  • Maintains and updates personnel records. Ensures personnel records are complete and in compliance with company policies and with all applicable legal requirements. Maintains and updates performance management/appraisal system with employee information.
  • Provides confidential support to staff on counseling in the interpretation and application of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Assists with creating activities and programs designed to enhance employee engagement, such as wellness programs and community involvement activities. Assists with planning and executing special events such as benefits enrollment, and employee recognition events.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be available to work a schedule based on operating hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience : One year to three years of similar or related experience. Direct Human Resources experience preferred.
  • Education : (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program. Human Resources education or certification preferred.
  • Other Skills : (1) A generalist background in personnel administration, compensation, benefits, payroll, and employee relations. Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations. (2) Professional, well-developed verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. (3) Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. (4) Knowledge of PC and spreadsheet software. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Work is typically sedentary but, may require walking up to 3 percent of the time, prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lifting up to 10 pounds is occasionally required.
