About this position:

This position provides a security presence at the Lakefront Management Authoritys (LMA) Marinas (Orleans Marina and South Shore Harbor Marina) by monitoring and inspecting the Marinas and reporting incidents and required repairs to the supervisor. This position will require constant on-foot mobile monitoring of the Marina while performing pier checks. Additionally, this position prepares to diminish volatile situations and calls law enforcement if the situation is beyond his/her capacity to control. Candidate selected must be available to work overnight on weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No experience or training is required. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment. May be required to possess a valid Louisiana drivers license at time of appointment. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Examples of Work

  • Guards the Marinas to ensure the safety of persons and property in the Marinas.
  • Patrols the entire Marina multiple times throughout each shift.
  • Checks security of buildings and grounds regularly throughout each shift.
  • Checks identification of persons within Marina to determine if they possess proper identification and authority to be within the facilities and grounds.
  • Monitors alarm boards for signs of disturbances.
  • Conducts preliminary investigations relevant to disturbances within the Marina.
  • Intervenes with observed disturbances to restore peace. Calls law enforcement if situation is outsideof their control.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Monitors cameras from the guard shack for security violations or breaches when not conducting on foot security checks
  • Performs routine inspection of Marina offices upon arrival to work to ensure the facilities are secure and in good repair.
  • Inspects all piers, walkways, light fixtures, railings and similar features routinely for required repairs and safety conditions during shift.
  • Verifies each tenants boat is in the appropriate slip during shift.
  • Inspects parking lots, waste disposals, waste oil areas, and similar structures for cleanliness and safety hazards.
  • Inspects restroom facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Reports all abandoned boats or vehicles and highlight them on their daily pier check list, at the end of the shift.
  • Reports any concerns, discrepancies, or issues at the end of the shift. Contacts Marina
  • Manager/Marina Assistant Manager immediately for emergencies.
  • Submits facility inspection reports daily to Marina Manager.
  • Monitor and report all dock lines that are chaffed, undone or that have become a trip hazards.
  • Monitor the waterline on boats in the marina report any vessel that appear to be taking on water or sitting low in the water.
