THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Wernersville State Hospital is seeking full-time Food Service Workers to be a part of our dietary team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker, you will prepare and serve food items, as well as perform cleaning duties in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and in compliance with applicable health and sanitation regulations. In this position, you will prepare trays, measure portions, serve food, and transport trays and nourishment. You will also clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and work surfaces. In addition, you will complete required written reports to provide food high in quality, prevent food waste, and maintain an established budget.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM) and 2nd shift (11:00 AM to 7:00 PM), Sunday – Saturday, with (2) 15-minute breaks.
  • Work schedule includes rotating days off and weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Work hours and days may change based on operational needs.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
