Job Description

Responsible for collecting fares for ferry and airport parking and ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local laws and travel regulations under the general supervision of the Airport Security Supervisor.

Examples of Duties

  • Determine and collect appropriate passenger and vehicle ferry fare and airport parking fees. Be responsible for large amounts of cash and perform daily cash reconciliation.
  • Maintain records to track ferry passes and accounts for frequent users such as tenants. Research projects that pertain to airport traffic as directed.
  • Collect and monitor discounted ferry fare and charge account transactions.
  • Provide routine information to the public when requested, referring unique questions and/or problems to appropriate personnel. Understand the day-to-day operations at the airport in order to properly relay information to personnel and the public, especially when challenging situations arise.
  • Inform public of any potential ferry delays and provide assistance when necessary.
  • Operate communications radio and answer telephone as needed in day-to-day activities and emergencies. Assist with emergency operations such as phone calls to mutual aid and tenants.
  • Maintain walkway and surrounding area free from litter and snow and ice as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and forms for booth and ferry.
  • Perform basic cleaning of the booth.
ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:
Provide instruction to other employees of this or a similar job classification in all aspects of procedure and technique relating to the duties required by this job description unless such instruction requires a specialized certification which the employee doing the training does not have.

Perform other related duties as directed by the Airport management.

Qualifications

The Toll Collector must have the ability to perform basic mathematical computations and determine and count appropriate amount of change the ability to operate a cash register and/or ten-key calculator as well as basic computer skills in Excel and WORD must be willing to perform a variety of job-related duties as situations arise should possess a strong sense of teamwork, and the ability to work cooperatively with others and have excellent customer service skills. A calm and pleasant demeanor, particularly in stressful of emergency situations, is needed as well as the ability to give clear and concise directions or information to assist the general public and airport users. This position requires the knowledge of and ability to use proper radio communication as well as the ability to work quickly under time constraints and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
The Toll Collector must be able to hear. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or computers &amp small office equipment, controls to reach with hands and arms and to climb or balance stoop, kneel, crouch and taste or smell are also required. Each of the listed activities also requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, climbing on stools and ladders, and routinely lifting and carrying items and boxes up to thirty (30) pounds.

The position requires long hours standing in the confined area of the toll booth. Candidate must be able to read and learn to use equipment from written materials and/or other means of training. This equipment may include the following: calculators, cash registers, computers, copiers and similar equipment. Must have the physical acumen to shovel and / or pick up litter and wash windows.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED equivalent
General office and/or cash handling experience is required.

Any combination of related education and/or related experience will be considered if the candidate possesses the demonstrated ability.
