Responsibilities
The Executive Development & International (EDI) Representative works to ensure the accurate and timely submission and subsequent payment of all claims for EDI patients/accounts. This includes claim correction, submission, and follow-up activities, including interacting with insurance payers and third parties to resolve claim adjudication issues. This position will be responsible for working billing and follow up tasks, including billing activities requiring insight in to claim processes and follow up activities requiring understandings of payer contracts. This role requires adherence to quality assurance guidelines as well as established productivity standards to support the work unit’s performance expectations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED plus 6 years relevant experience required.
OR
Bachelors Degree plus 2 years relevant experience required.
Additional Requirements include: ability to read and communicate effectively, basic computer/keyboarding skills, intermediate mathematic competency, good written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of proper phone etiquette and phone handling skills.General knowledge of medical billing and collections processes, healthcare terminology, and insurance companies preferred. Requires excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a complex environment with varying points of view. Must be comfortable with ambiguity, exhibit good decision making and judgment capabilities, attention to detail. Must possess the ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. Incumbent must be self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized promote a productive, collegial workplace and adhere to Mayo Clinics Core Principles. Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously necessary in this position. Belief in the mission and strong ethical conduct is essential. Must have the ability to interact on a professional level with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of and experience using an Epic RC/EMR system is preferred.
