PURPOSE: To ensure the effective implementation of all occupational injury and illness prevention programs and Environmental, Health and Safety compliance policies, standards, and procedures at the plant/facility. This responsibility includes but is not limited to the development, communication and implementation of the plant/facility Accident Prevention Plan and Contingency plan. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a variety of safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures that will ensure Timken Keene and all associates are in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards, and drive improvements in EHS performance.
  • Work with Corporate EH&ampS and Keene OA manager to develop and implement programs to reduce environmental impacts and occupational injuries and illnesses, including work area assessments, team-based injury investigations and clear, measurable goals.
  • Lead Keene Plant environmental and safety committee meetings. Establish appropriate safety EHS committee roles &amp responsibilities.
  • Update Keene OA manager, as applicable, on environmental and safety issues or changes to safely metrics for morning fast response meetings.
  • These goals must include a reduction in injury rate and an improvement in PEP score. Complete periodic audits of the plant PEP Health and Safety Management System and Environmental Management System.
  • Walk-around inspections of Safety/Environmental Practices and Workplace Conditions.
  • Develop strategies to eliminate gaps identified by the audits and walk-around inspections. Leads the Complete ergonomic assessments and coordinate improvement efforts for the plant.
  • Coordinates the collection of samples (water, soil, refuse and plant byproducts) from plant waste sources to assess chemical composition, presence of hazardous materials, and nature of pollution potential.
  • Coordinate required environmental permitting per local, state and federal guidelines
  • Coordinate Hazardous waste pickups
  • Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors. Tests noise levels and measures air quality.
  • SARA Tier II Reporting, as well as maintaining proper chemical GHS labels and SDS sheets
  • Coordinates and supervises training programs in safety and environmental systems to educate associates in policies, laws and practices.
TECHNICAL/FUNCTIONAL SKILLS:
  • Stay current with Environmental and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and gov regulations
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Experience filing and administering environmental permit applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, able to adhere to deadlines
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivilant – Required
Associates Degree in Occupational Heath &amp Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering or other related sciences degree – Preferred
Associates Degree in Occupational Health &amp Safety, Environmental Studies, Engineering or other related sciences degree – Preferred
EHS Compliance/ Regulatory- Preferred
