Job Description : Captain Isaac Paine Elementary School is currently accepting applications for a highly effective educator to serve as a classroom teacher in our high-performing elementary school. Our elementary school includes a new library, a mix of renovated and existing classrooms, and is actively investing in the purchase of new and innovative technology.Captain Isaac Paine Elementary is a small K-5 school community that embraces creativity, collaboration, continual learning, educating the whole child, and integrating technology to enhance students education. Time and resources are allocated so that teachers can plan and learn together, create fun and engaging classroom environments, and students have the supplies needed for a top-notch education. We are a PBIS school with a focus on teaching students how to be contributing, positive members of our community.

Parents and community members work hand-in-hand with our staff through volunteer opportunities, community service projects, after school enrichment programs, and community events held at our school. JOB FUNCTION: The teacher works cohesively as a member of a team with staff, colleagues, and administrators to develop, implement, and continuously improve a personalized, rigorous, relevant, and collaborative learning environment supported by technology in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the district and goals of the school. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work hours, days and year, compensation and benefits as per contract and school committee policy.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Actively participate in and positively support all school and classroom functions needed to achieve the mission of the district and meet the learning needs of students, including, but not limited to, the following: Serve as a member of a professional learning community to provide a collaborative, rigorous, relevant, and personalized education supported by technology Implement learning and teaching practices, school and family supports in accordance with the RI Professional Teaching Standards, Global Best Practices, school-based plans, and the District mission Create, implement, and actively support blended learning, project- and inquiry-based learning, and the integration academic content areas which purposefully increase students creativity, higher order thinking skills, collaboration, communication, and engagement Support changes to standards-based curriculum, instruction, assessments, and school structures that develop 21st Century Skills and work habits needed for success in a global economy Disseminate accurate and positive information about the schools goals and initiatives in a variety of print and electronic formats Collaboratively create and implement performance tasks, formative and summative assessments aligned to the Common Core and 21st century skills as well as task validation and calibration Create partnerships among parents, educators, and community resources that support learning in and out of school Support positively and actively the efficient, effective, and collaborative management of school operations to ensure learning experiences, promote positive discipline practices, and school safety practices advance the mission of the district Create learning experiences (including interdisciplinary) using general knowledge that reflects an understanding of the nature of the communities and world in which we live Design instruction that addresses the core skills, concepts, and ideas of the disciplines/content areas to help all students meet Rhode Islands learning standards Use an understanding of students (e.g., individual interests, prior learning, background, and experiences) to create connections between the subject matter and student experiences Create instructional opportunities to encourage all students development of critical thinking, problem solving, performance skills, and literacy across content areas Design lessons that extend beyond factual recall and challenge students to develop higher level cognitive skills and use tasks that engage students in exploration, discovery, and hands-on activities and engage students in generating knowledge, testing hypotheses, and exploring methods of inquiry and standards of evidence Create learning groups in which all students learn to work collaboratively and independently Use a variety of communication strategies (e.g., listening, restating ideas, questioning, offering, counter examples, and technological advances) to engage students in learning, to collect and share information, and to enrich discourse in the classroom and the school Use appropriate formal and informal assessment strategies with individuals and groups of students to determine the impact of instruction on learning, to provide feedback, and to plan future instruction Exhibit attributes of reliable attendance, promptness, dependability, and professional ethics Use effective communication skills with students, colleagues, families and related agencies (spoken, written and non-verbal) Complete all requested forms, reports, and data collections in an accurate and timely manner Perform the functions of the position in accordance with the RI Leadership Standards RI Professional Teaching Standards RI Professional Code of Conduct and all laws, regulations, and school district policies, and administrative directives / requests and Perform other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary to perform the functions of the position.
