Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. We are
responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around
the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and

Within CO+I, the strategic Supply Chain team is responsible for establishing a supply chain
that can meet the ever-growing growth of the Microsoft Cloud and our customers. We
support a portfolio of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-billion, multi-year datacenter
construction and operations of those assets. We are looking to fill a critical role of Demand Planning .

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Demand Planning and Forecasts
  • Defines the plan or forecast and manages it for a service or area, incorporates the business drivers
into the plan (e.g., forecast, budget). Gains an understanding of what is required to achieve plan (e.g.,
promotions, sales resources, collaborative planning, forecasting, and replenishment [CPFR], budget,
engineering changes). Performs exploratory data analyses to identify trends, patterns, correlations,
and insights to aid in developing new forecasting models and improving existing models. Works
closely with Channel Managers, Finance, and/or Business leadership to create and manage demand
forecasts for supply, procurement, and distribution.
Capacity Planning
  • Contributes to the development of a capacity order plan that meets customer needs, while
maintaining compliance to supply and execution policies, throughout capacities and contractual
requirements.
Finished Goods Inventory
  • Helps team design solutions to adjust to changes in demand after deployment and excessive finished
goods. May assist with the reworking of finished goods. Addresses excess goods by beginning to
repurpose such goods for a component or product.
Machine Learning and Analysis
  • Learns to collaborate with others to leverage data to identify pockets of opportunity to apply
statistical analyses to improve solutions to a business problems. Uses statistical analysis tools for
evaluating Machine Learning models. Assists with the communication of insights under the direction
of senior team members.
Analysis and Insight Generation

  • Performs and guides analysis that generates insights that address the identified business questions.
Interprets the business implications of study results and reports findings to stakeholders. Informs
business decisions through the use of benchmarks, best practices, and other supply-chain business
intelligence.
Lifecycle Management
  • Contributes to the hardware and software roadmap. Assists with launching through decommission
plans and strategies (e.g., demand forecast, inventory, buffer). Begins to collect and monitor events.
Risk Management
  • Executes on mitigation for prioritization and criticality during demand or supply events (e.g., quality,
hardware, reliability, execution delays).
Continuous Improvement
  • Seeks strategies to streamline, automate, and simplify processes, including deployment of tools,
using data analytics, and working with information technology (IT) groups to define system
requirements. Demonstrates familiarity with functional processes and policies related to his or her
area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience     o OR equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of experience with Demand planning or material planning
  • Experience with Power BI or excel
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience o OR equivalent experience.

Demand Planning IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 – $178,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 – $195,000 per year.
