Entity: Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania (CPUP)

Department: Neurology


Location: Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania- 3400 Spruce St

Hours: Per Departmental Needs

Summary:

  • This position is responsible for performing complex analysis, managing data and information systems, and developing reports or presentations for the Department of Neurology. This work will span varied functional domains (finance, operations, revenue cycle, and clinical quality) and settings (hospital and clinic). This individual will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that requested information is timely, accurate, and meets all requirements. Analytics work will encompass maintaining or modifying existing standard reporting, creating new standard reporting, and completing ad-hoc/one-off requests. This individual may serve in a consultative function to draw conclusions, produce insights, and make recommendations based on their findings and may be further relied upon to identify potential process improvements.

Responsibilities:


  • Utilizes large complex data sets to meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Build the analytics infrastructure required for integrating information from a wide variety of data sources using task specific appropriate tools.
  • Create analytics tools that utilize existing data assets to provide actionable insights into operational efficiency, quality improvement, and other key business performance metrics.
  • Provides project management guidance and expertise to facilitate operations improvement projects.
  • Continuously improves departmental processes, programs, operations, and services.
  • Research and data analysis in support of troubleshooting production issues.
  • Participate in resolution of routine data integration errors/variances when needed.
  • Coordinate with other IS groups to see problems through to resolution.
  • Attend planning and status meetings with team members, system administrators, and/or clients/end-users to understand project requirements and provide constructive commentary.
  • Proactively contribute with ideas and solutions.
  • Consult users on system and data capabilities.
  • Ensures clients find the process supportive and effective.
  • Provide regular updates and status of issue/task to the manager, product owner, and/or report requestor.
  • Deliver solutions in line with user expectations as per defined requirements.
  • Provide technical counsel to co-workers.
  • Maintain strict levels of data confidentiality, privacy, and security.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Education or Equivalent Experience:


  • Bachelors degree is required.
  • 3+ years experience working with data/databases is required.
  • Education Specialization: any area of study Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related STEM discipline is preferred.
