The Data Advisor on the HR Analytics team helps develop and deploy data solutions at Intermountain Health, one of the nation’s leading health systems. They serve as a Data Steward and coordinate all aspects of data management and usage to support reporting and analytics for Human Resources.

As a Data Steward, this role serves as the resident data expert for both user education and solution enablement in a focused area to improve business operations and patient care. They help define and operationalize data quality, standards, and governance best practices. This is a seasoned data representative that interacts with analytics and business stakeholders to ensure accuracy and availability of necessary data for business purposes and data product integration across the organization.

The Data Advisor reports to the Manager of the HR Analytics team, who owns the analytic accountability for Human Resources and Workforce Optimization at Intermountain Health. They are a key member of an Analytic Agile Delivery Team which uses the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) method to deliver customer focused and scaled data and analytic product solutions. This is a highly skilled, high impact team with deep operational and technical expertise which leverages healthcare and organizational data to solve real-world problems. They partner with stakeholders and other analytics leaders to understand, prioritize and resource data needs. They collaborate with Data Platform Architects and Business Applications Analysts to identify, develop and maintain data assets. They consult closely with team Data Analysts to ensure appropriate and impactful usage of available data assets in all aspects of analytic work. This includes the QA/Review of SQL queries and reports and the ability to assist or lead in report development.

Prior experience with Workday is preferred. The Workday HCM/Payroll application is one of the primary systems the HR Data Advisor will be working with. This includes creating and maintaining datasets via Workday Prism and assisting with report development in the application.


In brief, the Data Advisor serves as the connector between data, processes, and outcomes of the analytic services their team provides. They coordinate needed data capture, database analysis, design, data workflow and visualization. They guide data strategy for ongoing requests and future opportunities. They provide leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of data systems and quality.

This team provides ongoing training, maintenance, monitoring and promotion of data applications and reports to ensure data is widely known, accessible and used to its fullest potential.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must meet one of the following:
  • Bachelors degree in an analytics related field such as statistics, mathematics, information systems, computer science, finance, business management, economics, medical informatics, nursing informatics or nursing and four-years combined experience in Data Management, Data Analytics or clinical care with a data focus
  • or
  • Bachelor’s degree in another area of study with six-years combined experience in Data Management, Data Analytics or clinical care with a data focus
  • or
  • Experience without a related degree will be considered if skill set and experience are robust
  • Plus:
  • Should be well versed in the latest analytic tools and methods
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Be comfortable giving constructive feedback when needed while still being tactful, as well as boosting the morale of their team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAFe/Agile team management principles and processes
  • Experience with Workday HCM/Payroll, Workday Prism and/or Workday People Analytics
  • Experience writing and reviewing SQL and with query applications (e.g., Databricks, SQL Developer, TOAD)
  • Experience with data visualization applications (e.g., Tableau)
  • Documented experience supporting Human Resources and/or Payroll operational functions

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$43.06 – $67.80
