Our CDI team is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to join their team at the plaza! You will be reviewing medical records for accuracy, educating health professionals on documentation processes, and participating in team meetings and projects. The ideal candidate will have previous medical/healthcare experience, be detail-oriented and comfortable working in medical records. Additionally, you must be comfortable communicating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

A Bachelors Degree is required for this position. Strong preference given to candidates with nursing or inpatient coding background. The ideal candidate would likely have one of the following: RHIA, RHIT, BSN, CCS, or CCDS credentials.

Job Description:

The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for reviewing medical records to facilitate the accurate representation of the severity of illness by improving the quality of the physician and mid level providers clinical documentation. This involves extensive record review and education interaction with physicians and other applicable clinicians, Health Information Management professionals and nursing staff. Active participation in team meetings and education of staff in the Clinical Documentation Integrity Program process is a key role.

Additional Job Details:

Clinical Documentation Specialist will communicate with providers through discussion or in writing (Queries) regarding any missing, or conflicting health record documentation and clarify the information. Clinical Documentation Specialist will provide education to physicians and other health team professionals on clinical documentation issues within the healthcare organization. Collaborate with HIM/coding professionals to review individual cases and ensure accuracy of final coded data. Active participation in team meetings and education of staff in the Clinical Documentation Integrity Program process is key role.
