Position Summary The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated research technician to provide essential support for the ongoing experimental processes in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. This position will support the Operations Manager on research projects within the Cancer Center. The research technician will work closely with cell culture techniques in an effort to support our Tissue Culture Facility. This position requires knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, lab safety, lab terminology, lab instruction and mentoring of work-study students in proper lab procedures, techniques, and safety. Additional responsibilities in this role include troubleshooting research equipment, responding to repair requests, providing user support, and training users on sensitive equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Experience with growing cell lines, cultivation, maintaining a lab notebook. Must be able to prioritize workload and communicate effectively within a team.

Familiarity with proper sterilization techniques.

Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements The employee will be responsible for moving freezers and other equipment as part of operational support, with or without an accommodation. And they must be able to lift up to 50lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
