Biological Technician (Bear Project) Position # SNL3555

$ 17.46 – $22.93 Hourly
The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has a seasonal vacancy for Biological Technician (Bear Project) with an anticipated start date of May 17, 2024.
Summary:

To assist in the implementation of a comprehensive bear/human conflict mitigation program under the direct supervision and guidance of the department’s bear project leader. (May through September)

Responsibilities:

Assists in outreach and education directed at preventing and resolving bear/human conflicts.

Receives, resolves and documents routine bear complaints as requested.

Distributes bear conflict mitigation supplies and equipment and installs electric fencing and scare devices.

Assists in the capture, handling and transport of bears as directed by the bear project leader.

Performs other tasks as assigned by the bear project leader in support of other ongoing wildlife management programs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of high school, G.E.D. or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Three years experience in fisheries or wildlife conservation, commercial fishing, landscaping, carpentry, agriculture, outdoor recreation, or park management, including experience in operating or maintaining equipment.

License/Certification: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards as established by the agency.
