This position is full-time (40 hours / week), Monday – Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00am – 4:30pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends.

We offer 6-12 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.

  • All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist customers with payment processing, invoice explanation, payment due dates and billing questions
  • Create documentation for external customers and payers in regard to premium balances as well as billing statements
  • Contact customers by phone or in writing to verify data, apprise of billing issues as well as assist with resolution for outstanding balances
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation for all appropriate transactions
  • Maintain payment status and billing records through corrections and adjustments
  • Consistently meet established productivity, schedule adherence, and quality standard

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Windows and navigation, mouse and keyboard skills
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week within the operating hours of the site
  • Ability to work Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm CST (40 hours/week)
  • 1+ years experience in insurance follow up or denials management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
  • Previous experience in billing or collections

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington or Rhode Island Residents Only: The hourly range for California / Colorado / Connecticut / Hawaii / Nevada / New York / New Jersey / Washington / Rhode Island residents is $16.00 – $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
