Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to guarantee that local education agencies (LEAs) and the Department of Education adhere to relevant statutes, policies, procedures, department directives, Minnesota Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS) reporting standards, and accounting practices. This is achieved by performing intricate audits of financial, staff, and student data, as well as assessments of programs involving state aid and levy programs overseen by the department.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of experience in a monitoring, finance, auditing, accounting, data analysis or school/education operations role
or
A bachelors or masters degree, CPA License, CFE Certification, or CIA certification and two years of experience in a finance, accounting, or school/education operations role.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Minnesota school finances and educational funding formulas
Knowledge of Minnesota education federal and state laws and rules
Excellent verbal and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate complex information, information requests, and audit results to diverse audiences
Experience obtaining and handling sensitive and/or confidential information
Experience verifying compliance with regulatory requirements
Experience planning, developing, and conducting audits, monitoring reviews, or desk audits.
