GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a twelve (12) month contract Fish Culture Specialist at the Clarks Fork Hatchery located in Clark Wyoming. Under supervision, this position carries out various tasks associated with propagating and stocking fish into streams and lakes and maintaining equipment, buildings, and facility grounds. This position participates in the work rotation to monitor the fish culture facility seven days a week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Under supervision, the employee will carry out various fish culture duties such as feeding, tank cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Conducting inventories and thinning events for fish, feed calculations, growth, and fish health monitoring.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to those with any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, biology, zoology, ichthyology, or a closely related field.
**Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of fish propagation and management.
- Knowledge of animal biological processes and behaviors.
- Skills in oral and written communications, computers, and computer software.
- Skills in light maintenance of small engines and lawn equipment.

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
:
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment and vehicles, some occasional lifting, and working in adverse outdoor weather conditions for prolonged periods.
- Ability to respond to facility requirements at any time, day or night.
- On-site housing is provided at no expense to the employee and is a condition of employment.
NOTES:
- FLSA: Non-exempt
- To be considered for employment, successful applicants must pass a background check before being hired.
- This is a contract position (At-Will Employee Contract) at the Clarks Fork Hatchery until June 30, 2024. The contract may be renewed July 1, 2024.
