Job Duties

This position provides support to the Fair Housing Office and Fair Housing Administrator in managing and directing the tasks and responsibilities of the Virginia Fair Housing Office. The Assistant Fair Housing Administrator supervises the fair housing intake process and two Intake Analysts to ensure complaints are processed timely, accurately, efficiently and in a consistent manner. This position also assists with conducting field investigations and completing investigative reports as needed. The Assistant Fair Housing Administrator also presents cases to the Fair Housing and Real Estate Boards for final adjudication in the Fair Housing Administrator’s absence. The position is also responsible for maintaining internal Excel spreadsheets, communicating verbally and in writing with HUD staff on all intake matters, communicating verbally and in writing with the general public on complaints in intake and responding to numerous calls to the section for information and assistance, assisting intake staff with complex complaints in intake, conducting Lexis/Nexis searches as needed, updating HUDs HEMS database system, training new intake staff, managing the performance of intake staff, reviewing and updating our complaint form as needed, updating all intake correspondence and complaint notification letters as needed, updating HUD correspondence as needed, reviewing and updating our intake procedure manual as needed, responding to general inquiries from the public for case statistics, and assisting the Fair Housing Administrator and Fair Housing Outreach Coordinator with training/outreach events and other special assignments.

TELEWORK OPTIONS: Please note that this position may be eligible for limited telework and is not a full-time telework position. Upon hire into this position, the agency requires the incumbent to be in the position for 90 days before a specific telework schedule may be submitted for consideration.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Virginia drivers license required.

  • Civil Rights/Law Enforcement experience.

  • Investigative experience.

  • Analytical Experience

  • Report writing experience.

  • Supervisory and office management experience.

  • Microsoft Office experience (WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook).
