The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking an Assistant Director of Early College.

The Assistant Director of Early College provides direct support to the Director of the UMPI Early College Program. As a liaison between the UMPI Early College program, high schools, students, and parents, the Assistant Director will conduct outreach to high schools, propose strategic partnerships, and align with national standards by which the goals of the UMPI Early College program are achieved and assessed. This position will be cross-trained with the Admissions team to ensure comfort and understanding of the processes and standards used in Admissions.

After on-site training, there is the option to include remote work during June, July, and August, as well as one day per week during the other months depending on performance and program needs.



Responsibilities Include:

  • Consult with UMS Early College offices, conduct research, and utilize NACEP accreditation standards to devise quality, sustainable Early College and concurrent enrollment programs for UMPI.
  • Builds relationships with high school and district stakeholders across the state of Maine.
  • Creates and revises communication plans for all Early College stakeholders. Communicate clearly and as necessary with all student, parent, secondary counselor, and teacher participants.
  • Assists with the design of Early College marketing materials, including print and electronic media, and promotional items in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communication.
  • Serves as primary liaison between the Office of Early College and internal Early College program stakeholders, notably the Offices of Admissions, Marketing and Communication, and the Bursar’s Office.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes Early College online and on-campus orientation sessions.
  • Participates in on- and off-campus student recruitment events including University Admissions open houses, college fairs, and concurrent enrollment information sessions.
  • Reconciles student credit counts to facilitate accurate tuition billing to the Maine DOE.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary range is $45,000-$50,000 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. Qualifications :

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study from an accredited institution or Associates Degree with relative work experience.

  • Familiar with standard online tools, applications and software programs.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Valid Drivers License and be an authorized and approved University Driver based on the Driver Administration Policy.


Preferred:

  • Experience in working with high school students or first-year college students.

  • Master’s degree in any field of study from an accredited institution.

  • One or more years of experience in a high school or higher education setting.
